Slumdog Millionaire Crorepati or Lakhpati, I don care much ! ! !

What ever the nomenclature they use, we need to take a different view to the movie that’s been a surprise entry at all the major award functions this year.

I kept hearing about the movie for a long time, chose not to watch it till it got officially released and so you can blame the extra anticipation about the movie on that. When I saw the movie last Friday, I anything but agreed to the views of most people that it’s THE movie of the year!

Initially when I read about AB’s comments, I felt that he’s just being a spoil sport about the fact that an Indian could not make a movie like this, but after watching the movie even I feel bad. Call me a spoil sport too but am appalled by the way firangis come here show anything from the pedophiles’ escapades to the tortures lives of the Indian poor and showcase it as a masterpiece. The problem is not about running away from reality but instead to question the opportunism and selfish attitude.

Today we are seeing everyone from Anil K to Dev P to Frieda P up there on stage feeling very proud of what they have been part of but how many did even consider doing something about bettering the lives of the very characters they were playing?

Guess my voice like the voice of many others reached DannyB, before it could become a reason for the film’s non success in India that he has declared to donate a part of the earnings from the movie towards re-habilitating slumdogs, ain’t that what they call the kids from slums! I appreciate the initiative but just putting the money there will not be enough, one has to get their hands dirty as well. Hope Mr Danny B, gets some time after accepting all those awards to do a little bit of work here.

Jaane Tu... ya Jaane na

An amazing piece of fiction!

These are the kind of stories each one of us would love to be part of, with every boy wanting to be like Jay, and every girl Aditi, with friends like these, life in college must've definitely been beautiful.

Its an amazingingly sweet movie, with SO many beautiful moments where every girl in the audience is going "Awww! How cute!" or the entire hall is laughing away to glory. Abbas Tyrewala (Writer and Director) put this story as a life he always wanted to live when he was in college, and he sure has managed to bring the dreams of a majority of us alive.

You will get out of the movie hall thinking, "how cute was that, but does it really happen? and if it happens, why didn't it ever happen to me?" Take the feeling with a pinch of salt, exit, grab an ice cream with your sweetheart or fiends, and the feeling is easily forgettable.

Don't give this movie a miss, it's a movie you would always want to have watched.

Shaurya

I'm sure you will get all the reviews of the movie through imdb, newspapers etc, what I'm putting down is a few things that I felt while watching the movie.

A movie about a Few Good Men (pun unintended)who realize their their role (both in the movie and their character) just before the interval, actually I meant just when someone manages to remind him that he too has a responsibility and has not joined the armed forces to not just enjoy the perks.

Overall, I enjoyed the movie. Its great to witness the lifestyle of the forces, the language, the discipline, the attire everything about them comes closest to perfect except a few instances.

A great effort at bringing forward just one of the small problems that our forces are facing, actually while the core reason for the problem is one of the smaller ones, its important to notice the BIG problem.

Dil Dosti etc

A tale of two boys working towards a certain goal, however apart these goals really are. A very interesting weaving of two such different stories into one. One of the things I liked most is that while these two characters are extremes in their own ways, every youth would relate to either of the two, so while he would feel they are not exactly like that, they may either want to be there or are almost there or are just similar. So at the end of the movie, every viewer feels that this could happen to me as well, atleast to an extent :)

Wouldn't call this a must watch, but if you have the time, go for it and yes, if you are one of those who decide which theatre to go to basis how good is the movie, you may want to choose some local single screen movie hall.

There aren't really any best in this movie.

Manorama | Six Feet Under

Its the story of a middle class PWD employee who wanted to be famous in life, he would want to do anything for that. Moreover there was a latent dream of being a detective, this was combined takes him on a trail that reveals a few dark secrets. Some bad blood, some nasty truths and a few bleeding bodies.

Overall, the movie was slightly slow but worth a watch. Don't spend too much on the movie, go to a a cheaper theatre and don't take your girlfriend / wife, you will get beaten.

One best of the movie: Art directed very beautifully along with the camera work that does due justice to the efforts made by the Art Director.

Borne Ultimatum

I saw the movie last Saturday and I have already spoken to at least 10 people about the movie and convinced them to definitely see the movie.

Ideally you should have either seen the earlier movies or read the books, only then would you really understand what is going on and what finally happens, but if you have not done either of the above, don't panic, just get a quick crash course on Jason Borne (Matt Damon) and go for the movie, its a treat.

Brilliant stunts and performances by the actors, it shows they have been preparing for their role.

One Best about the movie: It has the most amazing fist fight I have ever seen.

My Favourite Movie

Jerry Maguire
A movie with so soul. Can watch the movie over and over again, guess the reason I like the movie so much is because its about something I would like to do, start something new and not just follow patterns.
The performances are brilliant, and the sound track is worth a buy.

Godfather
I think this is the movie that could define 'drama'. One of the great things about the movie is that it holds your attention from start to end.
Brilliant casting by the director, Marlyn Brando & Al Pachino uplift the film to the ultimate level.
